The Concept of Our Video.

As we decided to go for a different approach compared to our fellow students, as we are doing a different sort of genre compared to everyone else, we also decided to not stick to the stereotypical rap video, we was inspired by some artist thoughts and views, we showed our artist living a simple life, working hard to get a piece of the music industry, the reason is because, it isn’t the average it doesn’t involve your regular content as PIH is talking about issues that he occurs in day to day life & if we would of gone for a stereotypical approach with money falling out of the sky and expensive cars, whilst he is talking about the concept of life and his struggles, it would of all seemed out of place and we wouldn’t of been able to enhance realism.

Shot variety and selection

As the song is generally upbeat, we needed to have a variety of shots, quick cut shots, as through the shots the story can be told and realism can be enhanced, in a few shots you will see that we had to drag them out abit, such as were the artist Denis Biela is on the phone to the producer, me, this is because this is his first sight to shine, as I (the producer) am ringing him telling him, that he can have studio time, then we also had to emphasise on Denis Biela working, for the super stardom lifestyle.We also used clips shots of mixers, head phones, monitors of the studio etc.

How we stuck to the concept We researched to how PIH’s record label liked to portray him in his videos and the general concept of his videos, we saw that they portrayed him as a average rapper with the passion for the music industry & also in a majority of his videos they showed some form of a story line, which we have adapted to very well as we have shown how Denis started off as PIH did, a young man trying to make something of himself in the music industry.

Goodwin’s theory

Concept- Narrative & performance, these are the 3 main factors which complete Goodwin’s theory.Our concept was an aspiring rapper trying to become something in the world, by any means, we worked hard to become what he was ambitious to be, this was shown by him writing his lyrics, working in tough conditions just to get studio time, to start his life as a star in the music industry.Narrative- through Denis’s performance we showed how much artist start from nothing, doing the same thing, aspiring to become hip hop artist and finally getting the break through to be what they worked so hard for.Performance- as we went through a different approach, we didn’t want to pass of as being gangster rappers, as we intend to represent PIH’s song as how he is, as he raps about life, so through this we used concept of a general rapper performing in a studio & through lip syncing etc.

Video and ancillary task

The colours on the covers represent the lifestyle that our artist goes through on a day to day basis, on side is a vibrant red, which shows the anger that is in side of him and his surroundings, the other is a mild blue, which is for his future, a life of superstardom and more than anything being known in the music industry as a successful rapper.We have two inside covers, which are for the songs to be listed in which will be contained on the CD, another on of the covers is Denis with a city in his hands, stating that this now belongs to him & the over cover with the world saying sooner of later this will also be mine, stating his presence in the music industry.The album covers are vibrant and extravagant at the same time abit dark to show both sides of the story, from what he was to what he has become.

Audience

feedback From our reviews we was told that the artists need to show more enthusiasm, whilst he is performing, also we was told that there needs to be more lip syncing and more performance, which is a fair comment however, we was trying to get the storyline across & also to have more shot variation of when Denis is rapping.

Technology

The editing was held on Sony Vegas Pro 7 and the research was done through the internet about PIH, finding out more about his life, how he became a successful rapper in the polish music industry & why he chose this lifestyle.Planning- ideas/ planning through general ideas and story boards & creation of the videoEvaluation- which contained Blogs, where we uploaded our work on a regular basis & our updates to see how we went and how our progress was going ,Videos and the voice over.
